Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes (english version)

Disney Infinity 2.0 and Disney Infinity: 2.0 Edition
is an action adventure sandbox video game developed byAvalanche Software and published by Disney Interactive Studios.[6] It is a sequel to Disney Infinity and was announced on April 30, 2014. The game is currently set to be released in September 2014[7] and will feature characters from bothMarvel Entertainment and Disney properties.

Plot

Gameplay
The game will follow multiple plots, with each Playset having its own. The Avengers Playset will center around Loki andMODOK attempting to rebuild the Casket of Ancient Winters, with the aid of the Frost Giants.[3]
Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes is split up into 2 game modes, Playset and Toybox. In Playset mode players can play multiple story modes based particularly on a certain franchises. Only characters from the franchise that they were included in can be used in that Playset. The Avengers playset was written by Brian Michael Bendis.[5][8] The Avengers Playset will take place in "Marvel Manhattan," a version of Manhattan (that is 4x larger than The Incredibles Playset.)[3][9]Bendis will pen all future Marvel Playsets.[3] The latter game mode, Toybox mode allows players to create their own games and worlds, using items unlock in Playset mode.
Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes will feature similar gameplay to Disney Infinity. Some aspects of the game, however, have been changed. In addition to ground movement, certain characters will be able to fly and hover.[5] The size of Toybox worlds and Playset have been increased, notably due to the inclusion of flying.[5] Certain character can climb walls, including the Hulk.[9] The level cap of playable characters has been expanded from Level 15 to Level 20,[5] and players will now be able to use a "Skill Tree" to upgrade a character's abilities.[1][8][10] The figures from the first game will also receive additional abilities through the Skill Tree. In an attempt to make Toybox building easier, the game will feature improved and enhanced Toybox editor tools (including in-game "brushes", that will automatically create scenery for players, including cities, dungeons and race tracks.)[5][10] Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes will also feature automated builders, that can be dropped into the Toybox and generate worlds for players.[5] In the Toybox mode players will also be able to create interior areas, a feature absent from the first game.
Power Discs, physical discs placed on the Infinity Base to unlock skies, textures and in-game toys, will return from the first game.[1] There are 2 types of Power Discs, Circular and Hexagonal. Circular Power Discs give in-game boosts to playable characters and Hexagonal Power Discs unlock skies, textures and in-game toys. A total of 80 new Power Discs have been confirmed to be released. Some Power Discs will feature "Team-Ups." Team-Ups will make other characters pop up in-game to fight alongside the player.[1] Certain Power Discs will also unlock new costumes for characters.[1]
All figures, Power Discs and toyboxes, from Disney Infinity are compatible with Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes.[12]The game introduces Toybox Games, discs which allows players to create games based on genres such as tower defense. The game will also feature 2-wheeled vehicles, like motorcycles in additional to 4-wheeled vehicles.[8]

Development[edit]

When Disney Infinity was yet to be released, Avalanche Software CEO, John Blackburn stated that discussions about the inclusion of Star Wars and Marvel characters in the game, took place.[13] On that subject Blackburn said "I hope so! As a developer, I so want that. When Disney bought Lucasfilm, I was like, 'Holy crap! This is awesome!' But at this point in time, there's been some discussions about that, there's just been no decisions made."[13] On April 8, 2014, Marvel Entertainmentreleased a teaser trailer featuring characters from Disney Infinity interacting with Captain America's shield.[14] D23, the official Disney fan club, originally reported that the game would be released in August 2014. This statement was later removed, as representatives of the site said “we erroneously reported about the launch of the next chapter of Disney Infinity. This information was incorrect. More news about Disney Infinity will be shared on April 30, and we hope you will check back for that update.”[15] On April 30, 2014, Disney announced a follow-up game, to Disney InfinityDisney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes, at Pacific Theatres' Cinerama Done, in Hollywood,[8] for release on the Xbox 360PlayStation 3Wii UiOS,Microsoft WindowsXbox One, and PlayStation 4 in Q4 2014, featuring characters from the Marvel Comics universe. The unveiling included appearances by Clark Gregg, who appears as Agent Coulson in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Samuel L. Jackson, who appears as Nick Fury in many films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.[5][16] Marvel Entertainment chief creative officer Joe Quesada was also at the unveiling, declaring that the comic book characters are "uniquely Marvel but still fit within the game."[17] Avalanche Software focused not only on the inclusion of Marvel characters, but improving the Toybox experience (especially for younger players) as well. The Toybox mode from the first game will return and will make up 60% of the time spent with the game.[11] Jimmy Pitaro, president of Disney Interactive Studios stated "we wanted to take everything that worked so well and make it epic."[8] The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game will be more advanced than the others, as executive producer John Vignocchi said "one of the most unique features of `Disney Infinity' 2.0 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, just because of the memory footprint of those systems, is that the size of the toy boxes you can create are just gigantic."[8] A trailer focusing on the Avengers Playset was released on May 22, 2014.
